The Residence in Pure White

In the light-color public space, the large ceiling window and white walls create a pure and serene atmosphere. The abundance of white walls provides the perfect backdrop for displaying artistic works, adding a tasteful touch to the environment. Unlike most living rooms where the TV wall takes center stage, the designer combines the fireplace and fireplace wall, integrating white stones and simple lines into a cohesive unit. With the addition of classical couches and scattered decorations, the design, complemented by wall lamps and herringbone wood floors, creates a comfortable and heart-warming residential space.

The symmetrical idea and bright American-style construction are applied throughout the public areas and personal spaces, from the study room to the bedrooms. Recessed walls, symmetrical windows, and wall lamps contribute to the overall design style. In the bathroom, light-yellow silk cloth and installation art-style mirrors made of marble stones and brass add a touch of low-profile elegance. These elements create a space with regular patterns, offering unique visual and aesthetic experiences.

The Residence in Pure White is located in Taichung City, Taiwan, and was completed in April 2016. The design draws inspiration from traditional Chinese-style architecture, incorporating the concept of "move forward" into the public areas. The seemingly connected areas, including the living room, dining room, and study room, feature recessed galleries that guide the visual focus towards the dark wooden cabinet and exquisite lamp.

One of the design challenges was achieving symmetry throughout the entire space. To address this, the designer created a center area composed of a round dining table and crystal chandelier. This central focal point allowed for the placement of the fireplace, couches, kitchen cabinets, and wall lamps in a precise and balanced manner on both sides.

The Residence in Pure White is a testament to the power of light and symmetry in interior design. With its pure and silent atmosphere, tasteful artistic displays, and comfortable living spaces, this project showcases the talent and creativity of Chung-Yang Wang.
